Sandal Season Is Upon Us!
Summer has officially begun and it’s time to get your toes ready to be seen! Pull out your favorite slip-ons and get your feet ready for sandal season.
Whether you’re going to the beach, taking a short walk around the block, or laying on your couch, the weather calls for feet exposure. I know it’s been a while and you might not be seeing many people, but taking care of your feet is an essential form of self-care. It’s not a new saying, but you should treat your feet and your face like equals. Your feet do a lot for you and it’s important to reciprocate.
Check out your local salon
We’ve all had to spend a lot more time at home than we’re used to lately, but salons have reopened! It’s not a secret that you can do your nails for much cheaper on your own, but it might be a good idea to start the summer with a visit to the salon. Even if pampering yourself is not a regular occurrence, the professionals know numerous remedies to repair the winter wear and tear on your feet. The rest of the summer maintenance can be up to you!
If you do choose to go to a salon, be sure to follow the new protocols.
Do it yourself!
If you’re someone who doesn’t feel comfortable going to a salon, that’s totally okay too! Just fill up a bucket or tub of warm water, add some essential oils, and relax.
Once your skin is softened, feel free to use some sort of file to start scrubbing off the dead skin. Although this might take some time to remove, make sure not to scrub too hard. Your feet have likely been taking a beating over the past few months. Another tip for softening your feet is to put on lotion and cover your feet with socks before you sleep. It might feel weird going to bed in socks, but your feet will thank you in the morning!
Once your feet are soft and ready, be sure to cut and file your nails down to a comfortable length. Buff, add a clear coat, and pick a color! It’s always nice to match finger and toenails, but it can also be fun to do something completely different on each!
In summary, if you’re doing your own pedicure: soak, exfoliate, file, moisturize, and color!
Feel free to add some glitter or rhinestones for some shine. If you’re feeling extra crafty, grab a thin brush and add a design.
And remember, it’s a process.
Last but not least, remember that healing is a process. It might take time to get the pretty feet you desire, but that’s okay. Taking care of your feet is for you. Sandal season has just begun. Pick your favorite color and enjoy!
